Hyundai will release an all-new trio of petrol-electric hybrids in the third quarter 2016. It will pair a 1.6-litre petrol engine with an electric motor that can put out 32kW/170 Nm on its own.

Mazda will give its Mazda6 mid-size sedan a light refresh in September. The latest update introduces more changes to the cabin and some improvements to noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), but no styling tweaks.

Released: Sep 2016

Honda will return to the supercar arena with a hybrid-powered NSX supercar that will serve as spiritual successor to the 1990s original that was developed with the help of F1 ace Ayrton Senna. On the concept unveiled at the 2012 Detroit show a 230kW 3.5-litre V6 combined with a 30kW electric motor to drive the rear wheels through Honda’s first seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Subaru will try and fill a gap in its line-up that was left with the axing of its WRX wagon with the Levorg performance wagon that was revealed at the 2013 Tokyo motor show. Carrying similar front-end styling to the WRX, the Levorg will be offered with a choice of either a 1.6-litre 125kW/250Nm or 2.0-litre 221kW/400Nm direct-injection turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engines.

Ferrari renamed its FF four-seater to GTC4Lusso ahead of its Australian debut in May 2016, bringing with it an update over the old model. Under the bonnet, the GCT4Lusso's 6.3-litre naturally aspirated 65-degree V12 has 22 more kW and 14 extra Nm, taking output to 507kW and 697Nm.

Fiat will team up with Japanese car-maker Mazda to produce the next-generation 124 Spider, based on the MX-5 roadster. The twins under the skin will be built using Mazda’s SkyActiv architecture, although each car will feature unique styling and be powered by different engines. The resurrected Spider will be built in Japan but Fiat will tune it in Italy.
