The updated version of Infiniti’s Nissan Patrol-based QX80 upper large SUV lands in Australia in the first half of 2018, with the polarising front end receiving a major makeover to help it take on the likes of the Lexus LX570.

Approximate: Aug 2018

Infiniti’s fresh entrant into the medium SUV segment will arrive in the second half of the year, in the form of the QX50. It will be released with the world-first variable-compression petrol engine under its bonnet.

Model: X2

Released: Mar 2018

BMW will launch its Audi Q2-rivalling X2 small crossover in March, which will be joined in the coming months by a front-drive petrol 18i variant and an all-paw diesel 20d range-topper.

Model: Q7 - e-tron

Released: Jan 2018

Audi will bring its first plug-in hybrid Q7 large SUV to market in the first quarter, with the Q7 e-tron priced from $139,900 plus on-roads. It teams a 190kW/600Nm 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 to a 94kW/350Nm electric motor for a combined output of 275kW/700Nm.

Make: Alfa Romeo

Model: Stelvio - Quadrifoglio

Approximate: Jun 2018

The most potent version of Alfa Romeo’s new Stelvio SUV is set to arrive in the second quarter, following the rest of the range’s release in March. Under the bonnet, the Quadrifoglio packs the same 375kW/600Nm 2.9-litre V6 as the top-spec Giulia QV.

Model: C-Class

Approximate: Sep 2018

Mercedes-Benz will keep its segment sales-leading C-Class medium sedan and wagon range fresh with an update due in the third quarter, with some minor visual tweaks, added active safety features, and extra interior flourishes.

Model: A-class

Released: Feb 2018

The fourth-generation Mercedes A-Class hatch is set to land in the third quarter, wearing a greatly revised face and interior. It will also score big upgrades to active safety technology, mirroring that in the S-Class.

Model: Quattroporte

Released: Feb 2018

Maserati’s largest model, the Quattroporte upper large sedan, is set for a model-year update in February. The revisions will see tweaked power outputs, slightly revised pricing and the introduction of a number of driver assistance technologies.

Released: Feb 2018

Maserati will give its Ghibli large sedan a model-year refresh in February, updating pricing, tweaking styling and introducing the GranSport and GranLusso trim levels previously available on other Maserati models.

Model: XF - Sportbrake

Released: Jan 2018

Jaguar will expand its XF range in January to include the Sportbrake wagon, which will be offered with three powertrains consisting of two diesel and one petrol, as well as including a limited Launch Edition variant.

Make: Genesis

Model: G70

Released: May 2018

South Korean luxury brand Genesis is set to expand its range with the arrival of the G70 medium sedan in the first half of 2018, to take on the likes of the Lexus IS, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and BMW 3 Series. It will be offered with two rear-drive powertrains, including the 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 from the Kia Stinger.

Model: Hilux - Rugged X

Released: Apr 2018

Toyota will add extra variety to its best-selling HiLux pick-up range in the second quarter, with three new models that will sit atop the range when they arrive. The Rugged and Rugged X add a tough new look to the HiLux, while the Rogue will aim to appeal to those looking for a more premium feel.

Model: 1500

Approximate: Jul 2018

While the larger 2500 and 3500 have been imported for some time through specialist converter American Specialist Vehicles, the company has confirmed that it will bring the smaller 1500 pick-up to Australia in the middle of 2018.

Model: Navara

Released: Jan 2018

Nissan will give its D23 Navara its second major overhaul in February, with a focus on further honing suspension calibration, in the hope that it will get a sales boost that could see it return top-three best sellers alongside the Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger.

Make: Mercedes-Benz

Model: Sprinter

Approximate: Nov 2018

The third generation of Mercedes-Benz’s Sprinter van arrives in Australia in the fourth quarter, with a huge amount of customisation available resulting in 1734 possible variants. Both four- and six-cylinder diesel engines are available with automatic and manual transmissions.

Make: Holden Special Vehicles

Model: Colorado - SportCat

Released: Jan 2018

The Colorado SportCat will be released in January starting at $60,790 plus on-roads for the standard model and $66,790 for the up-spec SportCat+. Both variants are powered by a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder that produces 147kW and 500Nm (automatic). The HSV pick-up is set to rival the likes of the Ford Ranger Wildtrack and the Toyota HiLux SR5.

Model: Ranger - Raptor

Approximate: Jul 2018

Ford’s aggressively styled Ranger Raptor dual-cab ute will rocket in mid-year, powered by a new twin-turbo 2.0-litre diesel engine matched to a 10-speed automatic transmission, and sporting an updated chassis, beefier suspension and brakes.

Model: Silverado

Released: May 2018

The American-built Chevrolet Silverado pick-up will be imported to Australia in 2500HD WT, 2500HD LTZ, 2500HD LTZ Midnight, 2500 HD LTZ Custom Sport and 3500HD LTZ guises and converted to right-hand drive locally. The Silverado line-up is expected to be sold from May onwards.

Model: Liberty

Released: Feb 2018

Subaru has given its Liberty a mid-life update, with a host of upgrades to the 2.5-litre boxer petrol engine for improved drivability and fuel efficiency, upgraded exterior and interior styling, and a handful of safety technology additions across the range.

Released: May 2018

The Kia Optima has undergone a number of changes including revised exterior styling, redesigned head- and tail-lights and a full suite of advanced driver-assist system. The mid-size sedan is expected to locally in the second quarter of 2018.

Released: Feb 2018

Volkswagen will expand its Golf GTI range with a new three-door variant called the GTI Original. When the German hot hatch arrives in January it will become a permanent member of the Golf family, and will be priced from $37,490 plus on-road costs.

Released: May 2018

After months of teasing and speculation, Renault outed its fourth-generation Megane RS hot hatch, boasting a new 1.8-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 205kW of power and 390Nm of torque.

Approximate: Oct 2018

The second-generation Nissan Leaf will hit Aussie showrooms in late 2018, expected to be priced around the $50k mark. Nissan Australia says it will target government and corporate fleet buyers.

Volkswagen Group Australia (VGA) will this year release the performance version of its all-new sixth-generation Polo light car, which was revealed at an event in Berlin in 2017.

Released: May 2018

Jaguar’s all-wheel-drive E-Pace small SUV will start at $47,750 before on-roads, undercutting premium German rivals including the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz GLA.

Model: 5008

Released: Feb 2018

Peugeot aims to reinvigorate the brand’s position in Australia, launching the new 5008 as a highly-specified, premium seaven-seater. The mid-size SUV will start at $42,990 plus on-road costs.

Model: Grand Cherokee - Trackhawk

Released: Jan 2018

The high-performance Grand Cherokee Trackhawk SUV will will arrive in Australian showrooms at $134,900 plus on-roads, making it the most expensive vehicle in Jeep’s range. Packing a 522kW/868Nm 6.2-litre Hemi V8 engine, the Trackhawk will be the most powerful SUV on sale in Australia.

Model: Santa Fe

Released: May 2018

The fourth-generation Santa Fe large SUV has picked up a fresh design inside and out, improved ride and handling and more active safety technology. The South Korean seven-seater is larger than its predecessor, though it carries over its 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel and 3.3-litre V6 petrol powertrain options.

Model: Acadia

Approximate: Dec 2018

Holden is set to import the GMC Acadia large SUV as part of its promise to launch 24 new models by the end of 2020. The Holden version of the US-built seven-seater will be converted to right-hand drive and feature a bespoke Holden grille, although exact specification have yet to be confirmed.

Approximate: Oct 2018

Skoda will release its Karoq small-medium SUV in the third quarter of this year and is expected to be available in both front- and all-wheel drive and with 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and 2.0-litre turbo-diesel powertrain options. The Karoq sits on the Volkswagen Tiguan platform, though it is slightly shorter overall.

Model: XUV500 - Petrol

Released: Mar 2018

Mahindra will replace its diesel-powered XUV500 with a petrol version as the entry-level model in the range. Pricing will start at $25,990 driveaway, making it the cheapest seven-seat mid-size SUV on the Australian market.

Model: Cherokee

Approximate: Aug 2018

For 2018, the Jeep Cherokee has been treated to a host of upgrades including new infotainment options, advanced driver assistance systems and a significant exterior restyling. Four variants will be available locally, powered by either a 2.4-litre four-cylinder or a 3.2-litre Pentastar V6.

The 370Z will see a minor update for 2018, with slight styling tweaks and a beefed-up gearbox. Pricing for the Nissan 370Z starts at $49,990 before on-road costs for the coupe and $60,990 for the convertible.

Released: May 2018

The first imported Commodore since the nameplate was launched in 1978 will be released in February, available in front- and all-wheel-drive and sporting three powertrain options. The ZB Commodore will start at $33,690 for the entry-level LT 2.0-litre petrol, jumping up to $55,990 for the range-topping VXR V6 variant.
