Renault has rounded off its revitalised light commercial range in Australia with the cavernous new-generation Master van, which will square off with bigger-selling Euros like the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Volkswagen Crafter.

Model: Navara

Released: Feb 2012

Nissan has refreshed its big-selling D40 Navara line-up with improved safety and price re-alignments. The big news is the addition of the whopping 550Nm turbo-diesel V6 engine into the more affordable ST-X variant.

Make: Lotus

Model: Evora - S IPS

Released: Feb 2012

The flagship Evora will receive a 257kW supercharged version of its Toyota-sourced 3.5-litre V6, as well as a six-speed automatic transmission option for the standard normally aspirated 206kW V6 model. A new ‘sport’ mode will sharpen the car's reflexes by raising the rev limit, activating an exhaust bypass, honing the throttle response and adjusting the ESC settings.

Make: Mercedes-Benz

Model: SLK-class

Released: Feb 2012

Mercedes will round off its SLK retractable hard top range with the release of two new engine variants - the mid-range 150kW/310Nm SLK250 ($91,900) and storming AMG flagship ($155,000). Thanks to cylinder deactivation technology, the AMG's 310kW/540Nm V8 uses just 8.5L/100km of fuel.

Model: C5 - 1.6 Turbo

Released: Feb 2012

A new sub-$37,000 1.6-litre turbo-petrol version of Citroen’s C5 medium-sized sedan will hit the market as part of a shake up of the French marque's local line-up.

Make: Subaru

Model: Impreza

Released: Feb 2012

Improved fuel consumption was Subaru's main focus in the development of the fourth-generation Impreza small car. Also promised is significantly more rear seat space, improved interior quality better driveability. A completely redesigned naturally aspirated 2.0-litre boxer engine, electric steering and redesigned front-end structure lower weight and increase safety.

Released: Feb 2012

Mazda will launch a single cab version of its impressive new BT-50 ute, which up until now has only been available in a dual cab bodystyle.

Make: Hyundai

Model: Veloster

Released: Feb 2012

Hyundai's Veloster show car has morphed from concept to reality and, will go on sale as a belated replacement for the Tiburon coupe. Smaller than its predecessor, the front-wheel drive Veloster will have a unique asymmetrical three-door configuration and come with Hyundai’s latest 1.6-litre GDI direct-injection four-cylinder petrol engine.

Model: DS4

Released: Feb 2012

Citroen's Audi A3 competitor will be an all-turbo line-up in Australia, starting with a 115kW/240Nm 1.6-litre petrol engine – codenamed THP 115 and shared with the C4 donor car – before stepping up to the high-performance THP 200, with 147kW and 275NM.

Model: 3 Series

Released: Feb 2012

BMW will launch its larger all-new 3 Series executive express in February with three powertrain options - 320d, 328i and 335i - and a bigger list of standard features.

Make: Audi

Model: A5 - Sportback

Released: Feb 2012

Audi's new super-efficient 1.8-litre turbo petrol engine will make its Australian debut in the mid-range A5 Sportback. The four-cylinder 1.8 TFSI generates as much torque as Audi’s current 2.0-litre turbo engine while slashing fuel consumption by more than 20 per cent over the existing 1.8-litre turbo.

Model: evR

Released: Feb 2012

Small Australian company Varley has created a zero emissions EV supercar that is said to rival the Porsche 911 Turbo for pace. The top spec evR-450 is said to produce 310kW and a staggering 1225Nm and can sprint from zero to 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds.

Model: Kuga

Released: Feb 2012

Ford’s first compact SUV, the Kuga, will replace the ancient Escape. It will be available in Australia with only the top-spec five-cylinder petrol engine driving all four wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission.

Make: BMW

Model: 5 Series - M5

Released: Feb 2012

The M5's replacement has been confirmed to receive a development of the twin-turbo 4.4-litre direct-injection V8 in BMW’s M-badged SUVs. With an output of at 412kW/680Nm, this is well up on the 300kW/600Nm of the outgoing model.

Make: Porsche

Model: 911

Released: Feb 2012

Porsche says its '991' designated sportscar, featuring a significantly longer wheelbase and a sleek new body, will be the first completely new 911 in 48 years. Although priced between three and four per cent higher than the 997, Porsche promises double-digit efficiency improvements, quicker acceleration and enhanced dynamics.

Make: Holden

Model: Commodore - LPG

Released: Feb 2012

Holden is gearing up to respond to the challenge set by the Ford Falcon EcoLPi with a newly-developed dedicated-gas version of the Commodore. The car is tipped to have a tank tucked away under the back of the car - thereby lessening boot space intrusion - and to have more than the 175kW/318Nm found in the current dual-fuel version.

Model: Swift - Sport

Released: Feb 2012

The next Sport version of Suzuki's light-car staple will pack a 100kW/160Nm 1.6-litre inline four-cylinder mated to a six-speed manual or an auto with paddle shifters on the wheel. The production version losessome of the pumped-up body features from the Swift S-Concept that debuted at the 2011 Geneva show.

Released: Feb 2012

Fiat will introduce the low-emissions 875cc turbocharged two-cylinder petrol engine to its 500 city car from February as the only engine variant, replacing the current 1.4-litre model.

Make: Ferrari

Model: FF

Released: Feb 2012

A radical new look for Ferrari’s 612 Scaglietti replacement, but the big changes are under the skin. The car’s AWD system- a first for the marque- weighs half as much as a conventional system, while the new direct-injection 6.3 V12 pumps out 485kW and 683Nm. It manages 0/100km/h in just 3.7 seconds and will go on sale in 2012.

Make: Kia

Model: Rio - three-door

Released: Feb 2012

Australia’s first Rio three-door will undercut the cheapest version of the redesigned Rio five-door that went on sale here in September 2011. Expected to be priced from as low as $14,990 plus ORCs, it will be Kia Motors Australia’s lowest-priced model until the Picanto five-door arrives in early 2013.

Model: 5 Series - 520i

Released: Feb 2012

BMW will introduce two new petrol variants of its 5 Series mid-size sedan, both powered by the same 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine in different states of tune. The price-leading 520i will have 135kW or power, while the 528i version will have 180kW on tap.

Model: C4 Picasso

Released: Feb 2012

January will see an update to the Citroen C4 Picasso, which will receive a $2000 price drop when it gets a refreshed front-end and a 20kW boost (up from 100kW) for its economical four-cylinder diesel engine.

Make: Bentley

Model: Continental - GTC

Released: Feb 2012

Bentley will commence deliveries of its stunning Continental GTC cabriolet in the first half of 2012. Features the same underpinnings on the Conti GT coupe on which it is based, including a stroked twin-turbo W12 engine with 423kW. Even has specially-designed neck warmers for use if Sir should wish to take a sojourn through cold climes with the roof down.

Model: Giulietta - Diesel, TCT

Released: Feb 2012

Alfa Romeo's 147-replacing hatchback will gain 2.0-litre JTDM diesel and TCT (automatic) variants in January, which are expected to comprise 80 per cent of the Italian small car’s sales.

Model: Rio - sedan

Released: Feb 2012

A sleek four-door sedan variant of the redesigned Rio was unveiled at the 2011 New York show promising sophistication and features to mix it with the best in its class. It will complement the three-door variant, which is expected to be the price leader.
