The new turbo-powered Lexus IS200t will replace the IS250 variants in Australia. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit will produce 180kW and 350Nm, an upgrade from the ageing 153kW/252Nm 2.5-litre V6.

Lexus replaces its aging IS sedan mid-year with a new-generation model that will be available with a hybrid powertrain for the first time. With a design based on the LF-CC Coupe concept from the 2012 Paris motor show, the new IS will also feature new technology such as an eight-speed automatic transmission and a pop-up bonnet for pedestrian safety.

Lexus has confirmed it will import a 3.5-litre V6 version of its entry-level IS sedan to Australia. 228kW and 375Nm of torque will find their way to the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission.

Lexus’ IS-F sedan will be joined by a “hard-top convertible” powered by the same rear drive 311kW at 6600rpm and 505Nm of torque from a heady 5200rpm from its 5.0-litre V8, via an eight-speed automatic paddle-shift transmission with three-stage VSC stability control. Expect a $150K price tag.
