This will be the first major upgrade of the Korean-built mid-size SUV since it was launched here four years ago. Along with improvements to handling and ride quality, it is likely to come with a new 2.4-litre petrol engine producing 127kW – up from the 103kW output of the petrol four in the front- and all-wheel-drive ‘Captiva 5’ currently on sale in Australia.

Holden will introduce a five-seat four-cylinder petrol version of its former Captiva Maxx SUV model to compete directly with Honda’s CR-V and Toyota’s RAV4. The Captiva 5 is powered by a 100kW 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine and is available in manual-only front-wheel-drive and automatic-only all-wheel drive guise.
