Car reviews - Toyota - Prius - i-Tech 5-dr hatch
9 Jul 2004
The Prius goes for broke with steering wheel-mounted buttons for many functions, including the air-conditioning. There are also controls for the audio and, in the i-Tech, additional controls for navigation and hands-free mobile telephone. The shift lever is located on the dash and has five positions - Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive and Brake – the latter providing engine braking for low speed descents. In the centre console there’s also a multi-information touch-screen which shows where the energy is being distributed, and provides continual, five-minute updates on fuel consumption. The i-Tech screen also includes satellite-navigation as well as "smart" entry and start.
Did you know?Toyota delivered more than 473 of the first-generation Prius in Australia, where it went on sale in Australia in October 2001 - four years after its international debut
