Jeeps 75th Anniversary special editions add subtle changes for a big impact
26 Aug 2016
SOFT-ROADER was not a term coined for Jeep.
While virtually all car-makers that delve into the SUV world have, at some point, sold a model that would struggle to drag a greased pig off a damp bowling green, the iconic brand has always offered at least one version of each model with genuine hardcore off-road ability.
It has been that way since 1941 when the United States armed forces commissioned the Willys MB and the Jeep was born.
Seventy five years later, the North American car-maker is celebrating its military origins and its association with vehicles that can take you places not many others can, whether their owners ever choose to go there or not.
We put the Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Renegade and Wrangler 75th Anniversary special editions through their paces in one of Australia’s most challenging landscapes, to see if the line-up still honours that first utilitarian model.
