Torsional Rigidity

Refers to the vehicle's ability to resist twisting forces which, particularly during cornering, braking and acceleration, attempt to bend the vehicle from the front right to left rear or front left to right rear.

A lack or rigidity will greatly affect ride and handling.

Much work is done in the design and development phases to ensure a car is suitably rigid without being overweight.
