Mid-engined

A car in which the engine is located behind the driver, but ahead of the rear wheels – a racing-style arrangement favoured by supercar designers.

Inappropriately also called rear-engined, which really only applies to cars such as the VW Beetle and Porsche 911 in which the engine hangs out behind the rear axle-line.
