Drum Brakes

Drum brakes use curved shoes that are pushed out into turning drums connected to the wheel hubs.

They were once common, but these days are only found on the rear wheels of cheaper cars.

They are inferior to disc brakes because heat cannot escape as effectively and heavy braking can quickly cause "fade".
