Springs

An essential component of any suspension system because they absorb bumps.

Most cars have coil springs, usually coiled around the shock absorber, but some vehicles such as utes and vans still use leaf springs, which are much larger, much heavier and less effective.

Dampers (or shock absorbers) are required to absorb the re-bound movement of the spring.

Without dampers, the vehicle would bounce along the road.
