RS-P hits higher Octavia for Skoda

Hot shot: The Skoda Octavia RS-P is for looking at, not buying.

Skoda’s one-off Octavia RS-P is a performance upgrade exercise for now

1 Sep 2009

SKODA pulled out a surprise at last week’s Octavia RS launch in Sydney, in the shape of the Octavia RS-P concept.

The company says the Octavia RS-P is an Australia-only image-building exercise that may tour shows and dealerships but will not be introduced into the range in the foreseeable future.

Based on the latest Octavia RS wagon, the one-off special features a slightly more powerful 2.0-litre TSI four-cylinder petrol engine (of about 155kW instead of 147kW), as well as a warmed-over exhaust, larger brakes (345mm front discs with four-pot callipers and 310mm rear discs with a single piston calliper), Yokohama AO48 with 225/50 R18 aspect tyres, revised dampers and a pair of strut braces front and rear.

According to Skoda Australia boss Matthew Wiesner, the Octavia RS-P concept is an on-going project that may see further one-off specials released with larger power outputs.

However, he did hint that some of the go-faster gear may be made available at a later stage for Octavia RS buyers who are looking to beef up their cars.
