Car reviews - HSV - Maloo - R8 2-dr utility
29 Jul 2002
THE Maloo uses a unique version of HSV's "Touring" suspension. Where the sedan models are now fitted with the Control-Link rear suspension (which incorporates an additional link to control rear wheel toe changes during suspension compression and rebound), the Maloo ute models make do with the pre-VX II independent rear end, which is essentially minus the extra suspension link. For the technophiles out there, the Touring suspension set-up is now referred to as "Touring 2" on the sedan models that use Control Link and simply "Touring" on the Maloo. The anti-roll bar dimensions are the same across both versions, with the ball joint-mounted front anti-roll bar measuring 28mm in diameter, while the rear anti-roll bar is 15mm in diameter.

Did you know? The "Performance" suspension upgrade is not available on Maloo models, no doubt due to the need for them to be able to carry a load in the tray. Performance suspension features revised spring and damper rates, as well as different anti-roll bars and bushes
