Stunning style and racetrack-honed dynamics underscore Lexus LC flagship
9 Jun 2017
SUFFERING for style. It is a phrase some catwalk models are familiar with as cotton webs and silk drapes are fashionably woven around them. Or how engineers would feel when asked to accommodate a futuristically designed concept car that must be barely changed for the road.
This is the challenge ahead of the Lexus LC, a two-door 2+2-seat sportscar set to challenge the BMW 6 Series, Jaguar F-Type and Mercedes-Benz SL with its Tokyo-cool origami-sharp body.
Neither the petrol V8 LC500 or hybrid-V6 LC500h are the fastest models available for the price, and nor can they swallow golf bags in the boot, the traditional raison d'etre of a Grand Tourer.
Yet Lexus boldly states these are driver’s cars where feel, feedback, emotions and dynamic precision place alongside the design and above all else. Will the LC stride, strut or stumble?
