Ford has added to the original AU Falcon's patchy appeal with the improved AUII
29 Mar 2001
REDEMPTION. That's what the AUII Falcon is for Ford Australia. A chance to prove the original AU was a rectifiable folly rather than an irretrievable disaster. The worst of the exterior and interior styling sore points have been smoothed over, equipment levels raised and refinement substantially improved.
The Forte is the crucial base model, which thanks to fleet and some private buyers accounts for the majority of Falcon sales. It has benefited more than any other model from the hard work put into AUII.

Ford Falcon ELReleased: Sept 1996
Ended: August 1998
Family Tree: Falcon
The GLi Falcon ran in EL form from September 1996 until its AU replacement in September 1998. Some would argue the EA series that eventually became the EL was a better-looking car than the current series. Engine options included the 4.0-litre OHV 6-cylinder or the 5.0-litre V8.
