VW Tiguan Allspace gets Wolfsburg treatment

Tiguan Allspace takes on blacked-out Wolfsburg Edition ahead of model’s replacement

24 May 2024

VOLKSWAGEN’s popular Wolfsburg badge is back, for the first time since 2021, now to be worn by the Tiguan Allspace with 1000 units of the special edition model up for grabs.

Wolfsburg is the hometown of Volkswagen’s global headquarters in Germany, for context, and the nameplate first appeared on the Golf R back in 2015 adding blacked-out details like wheels, mirror caps, and other premium interior and exterior features.

Fast-forward a few years and the top-dog Touareg 210TDI and V8 TDI models received the badge for 2021, with stealthy blacked-out styling and premium standard inclusions like Suzuka wheels and Savona leather interior trim. It was, however, a full $20k more than the standard 210TDI at $119,990 plus on-road costs.

The Tiguan Allspace Wolfsburg is priced at a more reasonable $63,990 before on-road costs, or $3400 more than the base Tiguan Allspace 162 TSI ($60,590), with optional white pearl paint ($900) and panoramic sunroof ($2100) for those wanting to deck it out further.

For the money, the Tiguan receives a black pack that includes 20-inch Suzuka wheels, black roof rails and mirror caps, rear privacy glass, Harman Kardon sound and vision package, tyre pressure monitoring and Wolfsburg badging.

Power remains unchanged with the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing the same 162kW/350Nm, mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission with 4Motion all-wheel drive.

The move comes as Volkswagen continues to finesse its range, with ID.3, ID.4 and ID.5 electric models on the way, a future PHEV focus across its core range, a repositioning of the flagship Touareg large SUV to be more affordable – also with an R model that will be the most powerful VW ever – and a new Tayron model, formerly only available in China, to replace the Tiguan Allspace seven-seater.

That’s right, the Tiguan Allspace is soon to depart, with the incoming Tayron due before the end of 2025. The model offers the same seven seat layout but is visually different to the Tiguan.

A facelifted Golf small hatch, third-generation Tiguan and next-generation Transporter commercial van are also due in 2025, with Volkswagen covering all bases with model updates and new models due Down Under.

The order books for the special edition Wolfsburg opened on May 21, with deliveries expected from October.
