For its midlife update the Commodore ute adopts the same model code (VY) as its passenger car brethren, along with their more angular nose, married to the rounded carryover VU II cabin.

The 152kW/305Nm 3.8-litre OHV V6 continues in five-speed manual or four-speed auto guise.

Inside there is a new instrument panel with binnacle-style instrument cluster featuring multi-function digital displays, new centre console and steering wheels.

There have also been some engineering refinements with improvements claimed to chassis dynamics, build precision, powertrain, safety and aerodynamic performance.

Ute model range reads: base, S and SS with a revised 245kW/465Nm GEN III 5.7 V8.
