Details firm on Peugeot 308

Online configurator and more specifications released ahead of Q4 local launch

8 Sep 2022

PEUGEOT Australia has this week announced further specification details – and the launch of an online configurator – for its forthcoming 308.

The French importer says the online tool allows customers to explore details including the colour range and trim of its 308 range, details of which were reported by GoAuto in July.

Further specification details of the model have now been confirmed, however pricing will be held back until closer to the 308’s local launch in Q4 of this year.

As previously confirmed, the Australian Peugeot 308 range will comprise four variants including GT hatch, GT Premium hatch and wagon, and the GT Sport hatch PHEV. The latter will arrive locally in the first quarter of 2023.

The three thermal-engine powered 308 variants will use a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 96kW and 230Nm and are paired exclusively to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

308 GT Sport PHEV variants combine a (132kW) 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with an (81kW) electric motor to offer total system output of 165kW and 360Nm. The combination is also mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Peugeot says the new 308 is instantly recognisable by its LED headlights and hook-shaped LED DRLs. Matrix LED headlight technology is also found on the new 308 while at the rear, the tail-lights use full LED technology in a three-claw design that showcases a ‘welcome sequence’ when unlocking the vehicle.

Inside, the 308 blends “refined finishes and rich materials” including tri-material Alcantara with leather effect seat trim on GT hatch variants and full grain Nappa leather upholstery on GT Premium models. Peugeot’s i-Cockpit includes a 10.0-inch colour infotainment touchscreen across the range.

The colour palette extends to six exterior hues for hatch and PHEV variants – Olivine Green, Vertigo Blue, Artense Grey, Nera Black, Elixir Red and Pearl White – and six shades for the wagon – Avatar Blue, Platinum Grey, Artense Grey, Nera Black, Elixir Red and Pearl White.

“The new Peugeot 308 follows from a multitude of iconic predecessors sold over the generations. So, we are delighted to have seen such a strong reception to the latest 308 offering locally since launching Register Your Interest in July,” said Peugeot Australia managing director Kate Gills.

“The Peugeot 308 signals a new style era for the brand and we are confident the dynamism and bold identity of the Peugeot 308 will appeal to Australian customers with a keen appreciation for inspiring design.”

Ms Gillis said further information, including specification and pricing, will be available closer to the 308’s local launch and that customers are encouraged to contact their local authorised Peugeot dealership or visit the website to discover more.
