Ford Performance Vehicles gives its updated MkII GT sedan range a makeover
8 Nov 2004
NOT quite the radical change HSV has introduced with its 6.0-litre LS2 V8-powered Z-Series ClubSport range, Ford Performance Vehicles' updated MkII GT range is nonetheless a worthwhile, if evolutionary, improvement to Ford's top-shelf sports sedan line-up. While power remains pegged at a still competitive 290kW, FPV has added a little more attitude, a new six-speed manual transmission, enhanced suspension and a subtle equipment upgrade to mark the latest version of this century’s Falcon GT.

Launched in March 2003, the newly formed Ford Performance Vehicles' next generation GT sedan range was the long-awaited successor to the original 1970s Falcon sports sedan of the same name that has since become legend, and followed a succession of luke-warm Tickford-engineered T-Series vehicles. A direct rival to HSV's ClubSport, GT shocked all with its standard 290kW 5.4-litre V8 and ride/handling previous generation Falcon GT owners would die for.
