Suzuki Baleno

Baleno

1 Jul 2016

Almost 15 years after discontinuing the Baleno nameplate, Suzuki reintroduced its diminutive hatchback to the Australian market in mid-2016.

Engine options included either a 68kW/130Nm 1.4-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder, mated to a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic, in the entry level GL or a peppier 82kW/160Nm 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder in the six-speed automatic-only GLX Turbo.

With a 355 litre boot capacity, loads of interior space and a generous standard equipment list which included satellite naviation and Apple CarPlay, Suzuki hoped the Baleno would outgrow its light-car labelling and compete in the ultra-competitive small-car segment against the likes of the Toyota Corolla and Mazda3.
