New models - Kia - EV4Kia EV4 priced to rival Tesla Model 3Stylish EV4 sedan to arrive in Australian dealerships later this month priced from $49,99020 Jan 2026 By MATT BROGAN KIA has priced its rival to the BYD Seal, Polestar 2, and Telsa Model 3 for Australia, the all-electric sedan available later this month from $49,990 plus on-road costs.
Available in three trim grades – Air Standard Range, Earth Long Range, and GT-Line Long Range – the front-wheel drive Kia EV4 shares much of its 400-volt driveline architecture with the EV3 small SUV.
Fuelled by a 58.3kWh lithium-ion nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) battery in entry form, and a larger 81.4kWh pack in the case of the mid- and high-grade variants, the Slovakian-built Kia EV4 outputs 150kW of power and 283Nm of torque to deliver a claimed 0-100km/h acceleration time of as little as 7.4 seconds.
Driving range varies from 456km to 612km (WLTP) depending on variant, while recharging times are listed at as little as 29 minutes when connected with a compatible DC fast charger.
While full details of the Kia EV4 range will be revealed at a local drive program later this month, GoAuto understands the EV4 (from $49,990) will arrive with standard features that include 17-inch alloy wheels, a 5.0-inch climate control screen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, a separate 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Kia Connect smartphone pairing, and over-the-air (OTA) software updates.
The Air grade will further offer USB-C type charging ports, black fabric upholstery, and an extensive list of standard safety and driver assistance technologies that includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and more.
Stepping up to the mid-tier EV4 Earth (from $59,190) we find larger 19-inch alloy wheels, vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, an electrochromatic rear-view mirror, combination fabric and leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, and a power adjustable driver’s seat.
Finally, for the current top-of-the-range variant, the GT-Line (from $64,690) we find additions such as a wireless smartphone charger, leatherette upholstery, a 360-degree camera system, and accompanying power adjustable front passenger seat.
The EV4 GT-Line is also expected to offer a driver head-up display, blind-spot camera system, driver’s seat position recall, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, powered boot lid, and an eight-speaker harman/kardon premium audio bundle.
All EV4 grades offers 490 litres of cargo space, which places it at a 90-litre advantage over the BYD Seal, but 192 litres shy of that offered by the Tesla Model 3.
Euro NCAP bestowed a five-star safety rating on the Kia EV4 in 2025, a score we expected to translate to the ANCAP assessment when it is carried out.
Following an announcement made earlier this month, GoAuto understands a ‘GT’ variant of the EV4 will be offered later this year, the sporty grade to offer dual-motor all-wheel drive, 215kW of power, stylish 20-inch alloy wheels, and adaptive damping.
Pricing and further specifications for the variant are yet to be advised.
