Chinese giant Haval brings its top-selling SUV, the H6, to Australia
8 Sep 2016
THE Haval H6 is the fifth-biggest selling SUV in the world – read China – so it is not without a fanbase, but the brand’s initial foray into the Australian medium SUV battleground is one littered with competition and a demanding marketplace.
Haval’s executives talk of taking on feedback, learning from previous experiences and improving its manufacturing quality and the second incarnation of the H6 on first impression is a rolling example of its efforts.
Spacious for occupants and delivering a more cohesive interior package, the H6 wades into battle here without a turbo-diesel, no manual gearbox option and only the front wheels driven.
But Haval has priced it sharply on the back of market research and sees its experience in Australia as more about learning the craft than cranking up the volume – its home market takes care of that – but discerning and demanding Australian owners spoilt for choice are a litmus test for the breed.
