Ford Fairlane

NL Fairlane and DL LTD

1 Sep 1996

A new grille and alloy wheels are the extent of the NL/DL facelift, which also included an upgraded 162kW 4.0-litre six-cylinder engine.

Underneath, upgraded suspension, easier steering, and increased refinement levels arrived, while small trim changes were implemented, including new colours and instrumentation graphics.

Thicker tinted glass, better front seats, upgraded audio, and mobile phone wiring improved comfort. Leather trim became standard from June ’97.

1180 Sportsman-like Concorde limited editions were introduced from August ’97, while Fairlane Tickford had a sporty wand waved upon it in May ’98, featuring a tuned 195kW 5.0 V8.

To coincide with the AU Falcon range a “Special Edition” Fairlane Ghia arrived in October ’98, loaded with extras including self-levelling suspension.

In total 8580 NL Fairlanes and 895 DL LTDs were made.
