Growing to 4.0L, the Fairlane’s standard 148kW I6 engine proved quieter and more powerful, while increased sound deadening and body rigidity helped refinement.
Safety received a boost with a stronger roof and pillars, and standard anti-lock brakes (ABS). Better seats and audio, and improved trim were also included.
From early ’93 a centre-rear lap-sash seat belt and an alarm/immobiliser were added, while the Ghia became the base Fairlane. Of course there was also a Fairlane Sportsman from October ’93, while in March ’94 small trim changes and new alloy wheels freshened up the range.
A total of 14,209 NA and NA II Fairlanes and 1881 DA and DAII LTDs were made.
