Bargain: The average Rover 75 Club saving at auction was $25,000.

Savvy buyers save up to $37,000 on MG and Rover cars at liquidation auction

CAR buyers snapped up savings of up to $37,000 on new Rover cars at last week’s Bonhams auction of 185 MG and Rover cars being liquidated by MG Rover administrators.

The Rover 75 Club and MG ZTs were among the best buys. On average, the 75 Club sold for $39,050, a saving of more than $25,000.

Buyers of MG ZTs saved about 40 per cent, with discounts ranging from $23,000 to $37,000.

Buyers of diesel-engined Rover 75s saved almost $20,000. All cars put up for auction were sold, with savings varying between 53 per cent and 78 per cent.
