New models - Skoda - OctaviaSkoda introduces bargain hybrid wagonsSkoda offers entry-level hybrid Octavia and Superb models, with red-hot pricing10 Mar 2026 SKODA has released its new Octavia Select Hybrid (mHEV) and Superb Select PHEV models, with each positioned at the budget end of the trim tree – presumably to compete with cut-price electrified Chinese hybrids.
In true Skoda fashion, and making these models somewhat unique against the sea of hatch and SUV competitors, both are offered in sedan and wagon body styles.
The Octavia Select Hybrid gets 48-volt mild-hybrid power, slotting in just above the entry-level ICE model with a driveaway price of $43,990 for the sedan and $45,990 for the wagon.
Skoda’s choice to price the hybrid variants below the upstream Sportline and RS trim grades bucks the general trend that electrified models will cost more than their ICE counterparts, suggesting the Czech brand is taking the fight to cheaper Chinese models.
The Octavia Select Hybrid features a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing the same 110kW/250Nm as the ICE model’s 1.4-litre unit, running through a seven-speed DSG and helped along by an electric motor that offers additional shove during acceleration, engine-off coasting, and regenerative braking.
The result is fuel consumption as low as 5.1l/100km (the wagon uses 5.2l/100km), saving a modest litre per hundred kays compared with the ICE models.
While the hybrid Octavia gets a 10.0-inch digital dash and 13.0-inch infotainment system, it’s still the base Select trim grade. Customers can opt for the $6500 Signature Pack to get more up-market features like 18.0-inch wheels (up from 17s), power-adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation, leather interior trim, a head-up display and matrix LED headlights.
Meanwhile, the larger Superb now gets plug-in power with the new entry models priced from $66,990 drive-away for the sedan, while the wagon is priced from $62,990 before on-roads.
This makes the Superb Select PHEV around $7,000 cheaper than the upstream petrol-powered Sportline, as well as putting it at the budget end of the mid-size PHEV sedan market.
The long roof model stands as the real bargain, taking the crown of Australia’s cheapest PHEV wagon – at least until the BYD Seal 6 arrives.
Power comes via a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 110kW, supported by an 85kW electric motor integrated within the six-speed automatic, with combined outputs of 150kW/350Nm.
The system uses a 25.7kWh battery to offer an electric-only WLTP driving range of up to 112km, while fuel consumption is as low as 1.2l/100km.
“Australians want simpler, smarter ways to go electric,” said Skoda Australia brand director, Lucie Kuhn.
“Our new Skoda Octavia Hybrid and Skoda Superb PHEV combine long-range practicality with outstanding standard equipment, supported by sharp national driveaway pricing and Skoda ’s seven-year warranty for total peace of mind - making the move to electrification effortless from day one.”
According to Skoda, the Superb PHEV models are arriving at dealerships this month, while Octavia Hybrid arrivals will follow in April.
