Lexus marks time with IS ‘X’ editions
Added-value Lexus IS 250 and IS 350 models with driveaway pricing until March 31
11 Feb 2013
WITH the countdown to the new-generation model well underway, Lexus Australia has released limited-edition ‘X’ versions of its current-shape IS 250 and IS 350 sedans.
Both versions – priced from $58,990 and $64,990 driveaway respectively – come with at least $9000 worth of extra value over the IS Prestige variants on which they are based, and will be in showrooms until March 31, 2013.
Both versions get additional features including parking sensors, five-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels, a rear lip spoiler, smart key, sports pedals and aluminium scuff plates.
The IS 250X also picks up several features already standard on the regular IS 350 Prestige, including satellite navigation, reversing camera and HID headlights with daytime lights.
The revised pricing compares to the regular list prices (not including on-road costs) of $55,800 for the IS 250 Prestige and $64,300 for the IS 350 Prestige.
In addition to the benefit of removing the on-road costs and taxes, the IS 250’s extra specification totals $9290 of value, while the IS 350’s is claimed to be $3840.
There are no mechanical changes, with the IS 250 still powered by a 153kW/252Nm 2.5-litre V6 and the IS 350 using a 233kW/378Nm 3.5-litre V6, both matched to a six-speed automatic.
Lexus previously offered X versions of its GS, IS and RX models in late 2011.
The new Lexus IS sedan premiered at the Detroit motor show last month, and the new range will launch in Australia by the third quarter of 2013 with a range of petrol and petrol-electric hybrid powertrain options.
