Pricing for the former opens from $54,300 and the latter from $49,990, both excluding on-road costs, up from $50,500 + ORC and $47,740 + ORC respectively.
Staria competitors include the Kia Carnival (from $52,070 + ORC), Ford Tourneo (from $68,990 + ORC) and the LDV Mifa (from $46,971 drive-away).
Competitors to the Staria Load include the Toyota HiAce (from $51,880 + ORC), Ford Transit Custom (from $56,890 + ORC), Volkswagen Transporter (from $58,590 + ORC) and the LDV Deliver 7 (from $44,726 drive-away).
Across a staggered launch schedule from April to Q3 or Q4 this year, available powertrains will be carryover 130kW 2.2-litre turbo diesel and 200kW 3.5-litre petrol V6 (arriving this month) 180kW 1.6-litre petrol-electric hybrid (from June, model dependent) and 160kW BEV late in the year.
Diesel and petrol models feature an eight-speed automatic transmission, the hybrid runs a six-speed auto and the BEV will use a single-speed reduction gear transmission. All are front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive dropped from the diesel people mover.
The updated eight-seat Staria passenger model offers a choice of a 2.2-litre CRDi turbo-diesel or 3.5-litre V6 MPi petrol powertrains.
New range-toppers consist of the seven-seat Staria Lounge and two-seat Staria Load Premium both exclusively equipped with the hybrid powertrain combining “ample power with EV-like driving comfort”.
The two-seat MY27 Staria Load van brings a choice of diesel or hybrid powertrains, with the five-seat Staria Load “crew cab” discontinued.
An all-electric Staria Load van will be offered later in the year in Q3 or Q4 and “signals a continued push into electrified light commercial vehicles”, says Hyundai.
Both MY27 Staria and Staria Load feature a refreshed cabin with the latest ‘Connected Car Navigation Cockpit’ infotainment system, ‘Smart Key’ access with push-button start and a new steering wheel design.
The new flagship seven-seat Staria Lounge Hybrid ($73,740 + ORC) is differentiated by unique styling touches including specially designed 18-inch alloy wheels, privacy side glass, satin chrome door handles, and deluxe door scuffs.
Interior highlights inside include Nappa leather upholstery, heated and ventilated seats for the first two rows, and a pair of captain’s chair style second-row ‘relaxation’ seats.
Suede-finished headlining and pillars plus an acoustic laminated windshield and front door glass promise reduced interior noise.
Visually, the 2027 update brings a revised front-end treatment with a sharper horizontal grille, while retaining the model’s distinctive full-width daytime running light signature and vertical tail-light design.
Hyundai says the addition of hybrid technology is aimed at improving efficiency while maintaining the practicality and versatility expected by both family and commercial buyers.
Hyundai Motor Company Australia chief operating officer Gavin Donaldson said the updated range broadens the appeal of the Staria family across both private and business buyers.
“With an advanced hybrid powertrain, the 2027 Staria line-up gives customers more choice than ever,” he said.
