The Paris motor show is now well and truly underway, with exciting new sportscars showcased including the wild Porsche 911 Speedster which is confirmed for production and Lexus' updated RC coupe.

We are now just moments from the 2018 Mondial de l'Automobile, the iconic motor show in Paris.

In the last week, Hyundai showed images of a five-door liftback version of its i30 N, dubbed Fastback.

Also, BMW revealed an uprated battery capacity for its i3 electric hatchback, and Audi unveiled its first high-performance SQ2 SUV.

The Paris motor show is still more than a month away, yet we have already seen some exciting new models that are set to make their debut on the expo floor.

BMW gave us a glimpse at its upcoming 3 Series, revealing images of the new 330i M Sport in thick camo at Germany's Nurburgring circuit.

We now know that the Bavarian sedan will arrive in Australia early next year, offering the most powerful four-cylinder engine fitted to a BMW yet.

Mercedes-Benz also outed its A-Class sedan, an extended version of the hatchback that recently arrived in Australia, and Skoda revealed two special-edition Karoq variants.

From the rest of the world, Kia has revealed plans to release a small SUV to attack the high-selling Mitsubishi ASX and Mazda CX-3, and Peugeot revealed the all-new 508 Touring which is still under consideration for the local market.

The historic Mondial de l'Automobile is back for yet another year, bringing the best of the automotive world to Paris in October. The Paris motor show is a biennial event, that always attracts not only a huge number of spectators, but car-makers alike.

In 2015, when the event was last held, Hyundai stole the show with its RN30 concept a preview to the later revealed i30 N hot hatch. Honda also came in strong, revealing the latest iteration of its coveted performance nameplate, the Civic Type R.
