MITSUBISHI’S third-generation Outlander SUV was a huge departure from the previous model when it arrived in Australia in late 2012.

The 2012 iteration of the Outlander was more economical and refined than the vehicle it replaced, with the Japanese car-maker working hard to ensure a more premium feel in the cabin.

Front-drive Outlander models were powered by a 110kW/195Nm 2.0-litre petrol engine while all-wheel-drive models came with a 124kW/220Nm 2.4-litre MIVEC petrol unit or a 110kW/360Nm turbo-diesel engine.

Only all-wheel drive variants came with seven-seats, but all models had a generous standard features list that included climate control, cruise control, Bluetooth phone and audio streaming, voice control, auto-folding door mirrors, leather trim on the gear knob and the tilt and reach-adjustable multi-function steering wheel, a six-speaker audio system, an immobiliser, security alarm and 16-inch steel wheels with full-size spare.
