First look: Final refresh for XK Jaguar

Nose job: The XK has had nose and rear section revision.

Jaguar goes for a more contemporary look with a refreshed XK

15 Mar 2004

JAGUAR’S XK sports car has received a final refresh before a new generation arrives in 2005.

Unveiled at the Geneva motor show last week, the latest changes to Jaguar’s fastest selling sports car follow on from last year’s powertrain upgrades and electronic enhancements in 2001.

Fundamentally, the XK has had nose and rear section revision designed to give it a more contemporary feel, while there are also new side sills, wheels and trim.

The XKR also gets a new mesh grille, supplemented by a lower ‘mouth profile’ in the front bumper.

Inside, a driver-controlled Automatic Speed Limiter is standard on all models. As now, the range will comprise the XK8 4.2-litre V8 coupe and convertibles, and the supercharged 4.2-litre XKR coupe and convertible.

The XK will be the final new product launch for Jaguar here in 2004.

In April, the V6 XJ6 arrives, while the re-styled S-Type is here mid-year. The XK arrives in the fourth quarter.
