Skoda expands Karoq medium SUV range

Sub-$40K Skoda Karoq joins Style and Sportline grades adding ‘excellent ownership value’

12 Dec 2023

A NEW entry point to the Skoda Karoq range is set to offer medium SUV buyers another option in the fiercely competitive segment. Priced from $39,990 the Skoda Karoq will join the Karoq Style and Karoq Sportline from this month.

The new entry point to the range features 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless ignition, power folding and heated wing mirrors with driver-side auto dimming, dusk-sensing LED headlights, fog lights, rear dynamic indicators, an electrochromatic rear-view mirror, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone climate control, an 8.0-inch instrumentation display and an 8.0-inch infotainment array with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Standard safety equipment is extensive, with inclusions such as front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, side assist with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with lane assist, and AEB with pedestrian and cyclist detection.

Powering the Skoda Karoq is a 110kW and 250Nm 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Skoda quotes a Combined cycle fuel consumption figure of 6.5 litres per 100km.

The Skoda Karoq range will continue to offer the Style variant (for an additional $4600) which adds a powered tailgate, larger instrumentation screen, keyless entry and alarm, DAB+ digital radio reception, drive profile selection, rear privacy glass, wireless phone charging pad, and VarioFlex removable rear seats.

The range-topping Karoq Sportline is also available, featuring a similar feature set but with a more powerful 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine developing 140kW and 320Nm and driving all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

“The Karoq is unique in the Medium SUV segment in that it combines compact dimensions with the greater space utilisation and packaging intelligence that Skoda is renowned for,” said Skoda Australia head of marketing and product Kieran Merrigan.

“The new Karoq combines a large 521-litre boot volume with much more torque and lower fuel usage than a comparably priced entry Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson or Mazda CX-5 Maxx.”

Skoda listed a comparative drive-away price for the rivals mentioned – and based on a Sydney 2000 postcode – of $39,958 for the Kia Sportage S, $39,215 for the Hyundai Tucson, and $39,990 for the Mazda CX-5 Maxx.

The Skoda Karoq is now available to order with optional extras including premium paint ($770) and a seven-year/105,000km service pack ($2750). The latter equates to $393 per service.

All Skoda vehicles are backed by a seven-year / unlimited-kilometre warranty.
