MINI has given its Clubman hatch range a light update, increasing the amount of standard technology features while giving two of its three variants a small bump in price, starting with the base-level Cooper from $36,900 plus on-roads.

The Cooper Clubman has risen in price by $1100, while the mid-level Cooper S has increased by $1000 to $44,900. The range-topping JCW pricing has remained steady at $54,900, having already risen by $1000 since its launch in February.

As part of the range update, all Clubmans now come with Mini Connected as standard, the connectivity system that reads your smartphone to perform tasks such as accessing personal calendar appointments, advising the best time to leave for a destination, and calculating real-time traffic information to determine the optimal travel route.

The Cooper has also been boosted by the addition of the Navigation System Business as standard, as well as the driver assist package which comes with autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, city collision mitigation, high beam assist and speed sign recognition.

Seventeen-inch alloy wheels are now standard, as is leather/cloth upholstery.

The mid-spec Cooper S gains LED headlights and 18-inch hoops as standard, as well as active cruise control and park assist with park distance control.

Extra technology has been added to the spicy JCW variant, in the form of wireless phone charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and the Mini Find Mate luggage tag, which notifies you when you accidentally leave your luggage behind.

A number of optional packages are available for different variants, ranging in price from $650 for the control package available on the Cooper S and JCW, up to $4000 for the John Cooper Works Chili package, an option exclusively for the Cooper S.

No changes have been made to the powertrains in the Clubman range, consisting of a 100kW/220Nm 1.5-litre turbo triple in the Cooper, a 141kW/280Nm 2.0-litre turbo-four pot in the Cooper S, and the same engine in the JCW which increases its output to 170kW/350Nm.

Mini has sold 311 examples of the Clubman to the end of August, down 13.9 per cent on the 361 examples sold to the same point last year.

It is the only Mini to have gone backwards in sales this year, with sales of the Cabrio increasing by 50.3 per cent, the Countryman by 43.1 per cent and the Hatch by 1.0 per cent.
