Cadillac Lyriq-V launches in Australia

CADILLAC has officially launched and confirmed Australian pricing and specification for its Lyriq-V electric performance SUV, which last year claimed the title of the American luxury brand’s quickest ever model.

Priced from $99,000 before on-road costs, the V-Series variant attracts a $9000 premium over the Lyriq Sport AWD.

The Lyriq-V’s dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain produces 459kW and 880Nm, completing the 0-100km/h dash in 3.6 seconds and powering on to a claimed top speed of 210km/h.

Electricity is sourced from a 92kWh battery, good for an estimated 471km combined range on the WLTP cycle. It supports 22kW AC and 130kW DC charging, the latter providing 107km of driving range in a claimed 10 minutes.

Exterior highlights include 22-inch alloy wheels, V-series-specific front and rear lower fascia designs, “V” exterior badging, body-colour lower trim and wheel mouldings, red Brembo performance front brakes, and a unique side rocker design.

Interior features include (but aren’t limited to) a 33-inch curved infotainment and digital instrument cluster display (compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Google built-in), a 23-speaker sound system, wireless phone charging, black Nappa leather upholstery with “Sky Cool Grey” accents, a heated steering wheel, heated, ventilated and massaging front seats, heated rear seats, and 126-colour interior ambient lighting.

There are also several V-Series touches, including unique embroidering and illuminated door sills, as well as alloy sports pedals, and a V-specific steering wheel.

The Lyriq-V series inherits the safety suite of its Sport AWD stablemate, retaining features such as its six airbags, adaptive cruise control, adaptive headlights, blind zone steering, buckle to drive, automatic emergency braking, automatic parking assist, forward collision warning, a rear vision camera, HD surround vision, traffic sign recognition, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, and hands on lane centring assist to name a few.

Over the standard car, the Lyriq-V gets a performance-focused V-Mode – utilised via the steering wheel – on top of the selection of regular driving modes, allowing easy access to launch control, “Velocity Max” (which enables an on-demand power increase), and “Competitive mode” (which optimises the traction management system for performance driving).

The Lyriq-V also gains a suspension upgrade over the base model, equipped with lowered sports suspension with adaptive dampers.

It also comes with a drive-mode dependent electric vehicle sound enhancement system, with artificial “sound themes” for regenerative braking and acceleration while offering an “e-rev experience” when parked or in neutral.

According to Cadillac, the sound system draws inspiration from the V-Series.R race car – the brand’s World Endurance Championship and IMSA Sportscar Championship competitor – while drivers can also select a “Stealth Mode” for a quieter experience.

The Lyriq-V is backed by a five-year/unlimited km warranty, an eight-year/160,000km warranty, and five years of roadside assist. Service intervals come every 24 months or 24,000km.

General Motors acting managing director for Australia and New Zealand Greg Rowe says the V-Series builds on the regular Lyriq’s strong suits by adding performance credentials.

“Lyriq -V is a landmark vehicle for Cadillac in Australia and New Zealand: it brings the V-Series badge into the electric era for the first time, and delivers the immediacy, precision and drama our customers expect from a performance Cadillac.”

“At 459 kW, 880 Nm and 3.6 seconds from 0 -100 km/h, it is a genuine performance SUV, but it also retains the refinement, technology and everyday usability that define the LYRIQ experience,” he said.
