Time is ticking away, with less than a month to go until the bi-annual Paris motor show extravaganza kicks off.

Already, we have had a host of sexy and exciting new metal confirmed for global debuts, led by perhaps the most important model of all: The seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf.

Also locked in are important models like the new-generation Fiat Panda 4x4, Mazda6 wagon (the sedan appeared at the Moscow show this week), Jaguar F-Type cabriolet, Skoda Rapid and Peugeot 208 GTI - all of which are on-track to hit the Australian market next year.

Keep your eyes fixed to GoAuto for more updates, as we bring you all the latest from our base in Australia and from the show floor in Paris.

The biennial 2012 Mondial de l'Automobile in Paris is arguably the biggest motor show in the world.

It is unclear at this stage what new models will appear, but expect the latest and greatest from the world's premier car-makers.

According to overseas reports, possible debuts include the seventh generation Volkswagen Golf - one of the world's biggest-selling cars - and the next Mazda6 medium-sized car, which will be heavily based on the Takeri concept from the 2011 Tokyo show.

Stay posted for the latest from GoAuto in the lead up to the show in September.
