The entry-level version of Citroen's redesigned C3 undercut the equivalent outgoing Mk1 model by about $4000 but was still priced significantly above its Volkswagen Polo and Suzuki Swift contemporaries.
A far more stylish and innovative interior than its predecessor included superior quality plastics and a new soft-feel dash. The sibling relationship with the more upmarket DS3 three-door was evident in the new car.
The pioneering "Zenith" windscreen added a great sense of airiness and space to what was one of the most compact vehicles in its segment (at just 3.94 metres in length). The notably thin A-pillars served to accentuate the glassy feel and addressed the large, vision-impairing pillars that were a source of criticism for the Mk1 C3.
Three trim levels (VT, VTR+ and Exclusive) were offered with three engines and drivetrains.
The base-spec VT was only available with a 54kW/118Nm 1.4 petrol engine and five-speed manual gearbox while the VTR+ and Exclusive models came with a choice of an 88kW/160Nm 1.6-litre petrol linked to a four-speed automatic or a 66kW/215Nm diesel with a five-speed manual.
