News - ToyotaToyota introduces Assisted Mobility Solutions rangeGenuine accessories to improve vehicle access for mobility challenged Aussies17 Jul 2026 TOYOTA Australia has become the first mainstream automotive brand in the local market to introduce a factory-backed range of mobility assistance accessories, launching five genuine products designed to make entering, exiting and travelling in a vehicle easier for people with limited mobility.
Available now through Toyota‘s extensive national dealer network, the new Assisted Mobility Solutions range aims to provide practical support without the need for costly or complex vehicle modifications.
The launch comes as more than 5.5 million Australians – around 21 per cent of the population – identify as living with disability, while many more experience age-related or temporary mobility limitations.
Toyota says the accessories have been developed to improve confidence, comfort and independence for drivers and passengers, while also assisting carers and family members who provide everyday transport.
The range comprises five products including an Assist Handle, Assist Strap, Swivel Assist Cushion, Rear Assist Handle, and Seat Belt Assist, each designed to address common challenges associated with getting into, out of and travelling in a vehicle.
Rather than being integrated into a single vehicle model, the accessories have been designed for broad compatibility across most Toyota passenger and light commercial vehicles, allowing owners to transfer products between vehicles where appropriate.
Toyota Australia vice president of sales, marketing, and franchise operations John Pappas said the new range reflected the company’s broader commitment to accessible mobility.
“We know everyday movement can be challenging for many, so our team’s focus is on introducing products designed to provide people with diverse mobility needs with the tools to keep moving with confidence and make a meaningful difference in their daily lives,” he said.
“These are relatively simple products but ones that can make a big difference to the ease of getting in and out of a vehicle for anyone who needs mobility support.”
The accessories have been engineered to Toyota’s genuine accessory standards for quality, durability and safety, with the company emphasising ease of use and portability alongside practical day-to-day functionality.
The Assist Handle provides additional support when entering or exiting the vehicle, while the Assist Strap attaches to the overhead grab handle to improve stability during travel.
Toyota’s Swivel Assist Cushion allows occupants to rotate more easily into the seat, reducing twisting movements during entry and exit, while the Seat Belt Assist brings the belt tongue within easier reach for people with restricted upper-body movement.
Completing the range is a Rear Assist Handle designed to provide additional stability for rear-seat occupants.
Toyota said making the products available through its nationwide dealer network would improve access to mobility assistance products that have traditionally been sourced through specialist suppliers.
