Narva controller optimises light bar capability

Ultima Connect+ Controller allows in-cabin control of light bar intensity and shape

7 Sep 2023

AUSTRALIAN automotive accessory supplier and manufacturer, Narva, has introduced a new dash mounted light bar controller known as the Ultima Connect+ Controller that gives drivers the ability to dial up maximum brightness and optimal beam shape at the push of a button inside the cabin.

It does this to a similar level of efficacy, though not autonomously, as some premium priced vehicles with (ultra-expensive) matrix LED headlights.

The kit means an end to manually setting the light bar’s angle up against the shed door and allows drivers fine remote calibration of their light bar’s output bolstering safety and making night driving a little easier.

The Ultima Connect+ Controller is designed to work in concert with Narva’s recently launched Ultima LED Light Bar range and is an optional extra across the line-up. The controller offers lighting adjustment with three pre-set, customisable driving modes.

For example, on the highway, the beam can be set for maximum distance with less spread to avoid road sign flare. On the other side of the coin when driving slower on treacherous 4WD tracks, distance can be reduced with a focus on maximum spread.

Then, on more open dirt roads, all the light can be set to its maximum output providing an extra margin of safety.

The Ultima Connect+ Controller’s brightness adjustment (the main and aux controls), provides a boost mode that delivers 15 per cent more power for 30 seconds that is useful for obstructions or in poor driving conditions.

The unit utilises LIN Bus technology that acts as a single point of control for all Ultima Connect+ enabled products.

The control unit features generously sized rocker buttons to make it easy to use on bumpy tracks, while multiple mounting options and single wire installation provide easy fitment across a wide range of vehicles.

Narva says the Ultima Connect+ Controller is the perfect companion to the Ultima LED Light Bar range, which include twin 8.0- and single 24.0-inch models that can be combined to also provide 40.0- and 48.0-inch bar configurations.

Light bars have become the go-to preference for serious off road and night driving in Australia where after dark can present confronting problems such as potential animal strike and other terrors not to mention difficult climatic conditions.

“With Ultima, owners can also select from both hybrid and flood beam light bar options depending on their preference,” the company says on its product info’ website, “providing buyers customisation options like never before”.

It is now widely available nationally through four-wheel drive and transport outlets along with auto spare parts and accessory stores.
