Future models - Volvo - EX60Volvo EX60 to deliver best-in-class rangeAll-electric Volvo EX60 teased with 810km driving range possible from single charge14 Jan 2026 By MATT BROGAN VOLVO CARS has teased a handful of images of its forthcoming EX60 this week, while at the same time promising the ability to deliver a best-in-class driving range of 810km from a single charge – in all-wheel drive configuration!
The figure obliterates that of most single motor competitors, demonstrating, Volvo Cars says, that “going electric is no longer a compromise”.
“The EX60 is designed to be a game-changer,” said Volvo Cars chief technology officer Anders Bell.
“With our new electric vehicle architecture, we directly address the main worries that customers have when considering the switch to a fully electric car.
“The result is class-leading range and fast charging speeds, marking the end of range anxiety.”
As noted by Mr Bell, the EX60 not only boasts the farthest driving range of any fully electric Volvo, but also the fastest charging times irrespective of weather conditions.
The Swedish manufacturer says that 340km of range may be added to the battery in as little as 10 minutes when using a 400kW DC fast charger, further highlighting the benefits of Volvo’s new 800-volt electrical architecture and in-house developed software.
Simply, the technology allows energy to move into the battery more efficiently, continually adjusting how the battery takes its charge, and maintaining an ideal temperature irrespective of the ambient conditions.
So confident is Volvo Cars in its new battery system that it will offer a 10-year warranty on the package – two more than is found in its nearest competitors.
While Volvo Cars is yet to offer full specifications on the EX60, it says its SPA3 vehicle architecture is key to unlocking the highest level of driving efficiency possible, while at the same time integrating the battery directly into the structure of the car (thereby reducing weight).
The EX60 is the first vehicle from Volvo Cars to use so-called mega-casting in the construction of its body.
Similar to that already in use by manufacturers including Tesla, the production process sees hundreds of smaller parts replaced with a single, high-precision cast that helps reduce weight, again improving efficiency – and no doubt agility.
More information of the 2026 Volvo EX60 will be made available at the model’s European launch later this month.
The EX60 is expected to join the EX30 and EX90 in local showrooms in early 2027.
