AIMS: Aston Martin One-77 to wow Sydney crowd
$2.7m super-exclusive Aston Martin One-77 takes centre stage at Sydney motor show

ORGANISERS of the Australian International Motor Show have pulled out the big guns this year, with confirmation that they will show the extremely limited and very expensive Aston Martin One-77 supercar.
The One-77 that will be on show in Sydney is the only example of the supercar to be sold in Australia.
A cashed-up car enthusiast from Queensland became the lucky owner of the fire-breathing Aston, after putting down a $200,000 deposit for it in 2008 during the global financial crisis.
As its name suggests, the local One-77 is one of just 77 examples of the car built worldwide.
Hand-crafted in England, the One-77 had an initial price tag of just over £1.2 million which equates to approximately $A1.85 million.
As GoAuto has reported, after import duties, taxes, insurance and other costs, the total amount for the local One-77 would be around $2.7 million, making it the most expensive new car in Australia.
Australian International Motor Show director, Russ Tyrie, said he was proud that one of the most exclusive cars in the world would be taking centre stage at this year’s show.
“The One-77 was first revealed to the world in concept form three years ago, and this year, Australians will be able to see one in all its glory after its owner has generously allowed for it to be on public display, only months after taking possession,” he said.
The striking design of the One-77 combines the traditional Aston look with a more aggressive, almost futuristic style.
The One-77 was built using a carbon-fibre monocoque structure and aluminium body panels, but under the bonnet is where it reveals itself to be a true supercar.
Powering the Aston is a massive 7.3-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine that produces 559kW and 750Nm of torque.
This pushes the One-77 to 100km/h in a blistering 3.7 seconds before reaching a top speed of 350km/h.
Mr Tyrie said that the One-77 would be one of the highlights of the 2012 show.
“The One-77 is unique, it is like no other Aston Martin or supercar ever engineered and we are confident it will be a talking point of this year's Australian International Motor Show,” he said.
