‘Global’ supercar emerges from shadows

The Vuhl 05, as the car will be known, was penned by brothers Iker and Guillermo Echeverria at their Mexican/American design agency, Etxe.
However, the company making the car is based in Luxembourg, the Vuhl’s chassis was tuned in Britain, the body will be made in Canada, and the whole lot will be bolted together on a chassis made in Mexico City.
Details of the supercar - its name stands for “vehicles of ultra- lightweight and high-performance” - are scarce, but the involvement of Austrian specialist car maker Magna Steyr and the likes of Ford and Canadian motorsports specialist Multimatic promise something special.
A single image released by the company overnight shows the front of a car with a menacing road presence.
A deeply creased bonnet sits above a pair of heavily framed Aston Martin-style projector headlights, while a deep trapezoidal, honeycombed grille splits two arrowhead-shaped air dams down below.
A large carbon fibre-look splitter frames the bottom edge.
According to a press release announcing the new supercar’s arrival, the Echeverria brothers’ “profound passion for all things automotive grew from a hands-on role in the GT and formula racing cars successfully built and campaigned over a 30-year period by their father, Guillermo Echeverria senior”.
The company says it has the backing of private investors and the Mexican government.
