Volvo's XC90 eases neck pain

BY NEIL MCDONALD | 20th Jan 2006

VOLVO’S XC90 has been given the thumbs up for its whiplash protection system by an independent American research and safety institute.

The XC90 achieved a high score for whiplash protection in testing conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Of the 44 4WDs and utilities tested, only six offered good protection with the Volvo offering the best protection.

To measure the effectiveness of each vehicle’s safety systems, the IIHS simulated a rear-end collision equating to being hit from behind at 32km/h.
