THE Cross Country employs MacPherson struts, coil springs, telescopic dampers and an anti-sway bar up-front and a multi-link independent set-up at the rear, mounted to an aluminium subframe. The old XC had a very similar fundamental set-up. The new car also has a 90 mm wider front track and a 57 mm wider rear track to aid stability. Claimed ground clearance is 209mm. Automatic suspension self-leveling is optional.
