TAKE a V70 and toughen it up - that's the basic summary of the look of the Cross Country. Differentiation points for what remains the same body include the check pattern version of the signature Volvo grille, higher ride height, wide front mudguards, standard front and rear foglights and tall 16-inch wheels. Perhaps the most controversial change is the black polypropylene "overskins" on the car's lower quarters, which tends to promote a love it or hate it response.
