"CROSSOVER", "soft-roader", "light-duty four-wheel drive". They're all terms which sum up Volvo's Cross Country, the Swedish car manufacturer's second stab at a fashionable rather than truly capable off-roader. Based on the new-generation V70 2.4T wagon introduced to Australia in May 2000, the Cross Country offers a big-tyred, plastic cladded, turbocharged macho-ness its more svelte relations would abhore. But it does retain their impeccable safety credentials, high quality finish and excellent interior flexibility.
