VOLVO has introduced the third generation of its V70-based crossover wagon called the XC70. Vastly outselling the practical V70, the XC70 appeals with its mixture of prestige features, practical interior, rugged looks and limited off-road capability. The new model is fitted with two engines that are new to XC70 in Australia, including a 3.2-litre naturally-aspirated in-line six-cylinder and a 2.4 turbo diesel five-cylinder. It uses a Haldex all-wheel-drive system and all models run a six-speed automatic with a manual-shift mode. The XC70 range starts with a base petrol model at $58,950, rising to $60,950 for the entry-level diesel. A luxury LE petrol model costs $64,950 and a diesel LE costs $66,650.
