Volvo XC60 sports designer gear

VOLVO Australia will release a sporty R-Design package for its popular XC60 mid-sized SUV early next year.

More than just a body kit, the R-Design has a stiffer chassis, improved damping properties and quicker steering response for a sportier driving experience. Nevertheless, Volvo says the XC60’s ride comfort has not been compromised.

The visual titivations include a ‘silk metal’ finish for a redesigned grille, fog light housings and door mirror casings, specially styled 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, chrome sills and exhaust pipes and an increased amount of body coloured trim, but no ride-height changes.

New metallic trim finishes abound inside, along with blue gauges, an R-Design steering wheel and perforated leather seat trim in a fresh two-tone design.

According to Lennart Stegland, president of Volvo special vehicles, the R-Design “… boosts the XC60's already sporty aura and gives the car an even more refined character in terms of both driving experience and design”.

"R-Design has been a great success for Volvo Cars,” he said.

“This sporty, exclusive sales version has helped us attract new customer groups who would perhaps not otherwise have chosen Volvo.”
