Five-seat VW Tiguan Allspace Adventure from $52K

VOLKSWAGEN Group Australia is readying a five-seat Tiguan Allspace variant that will be exclusive to this market when it launches in August.

The Adventure – to be priced from $51,990 plus on-road costs – drops the regular Allspace’s third seating row in favour of a 760-litre cargo area, the largest offered in any Tiguan variant to date

It also combines VW’s powerful 162kW/350Nm 2.0-litre EA888-series turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and 4Motion all-wheel drive to offer what the importer says is an ideal combination of performance, smooth ride quality, dynamic handling and immense practicality.

The Tiguan Allspace Adventure, which sits between the 132TSI Life AWD and 162TSI Elegance AWD variants in the Tiguan Allspace range, is equipped with Adventure badging, 17-inch Dublin alloy wheels (with space saver spare), additional underbody protection, progressive steering and sports suspension.

Further, Volkswagen has fitted the Tiguan Allspace Adventure with a 180-amp alternator and larger battery to accommodate the use of camping accessories, while also equipping the model with standard front heated seats, tyre pressure monitoring and factory tinted windows.

To further incentivise buyers, the model is offered with a choice of three accessory packages at no extra cost.

The first includes snow chains and all-weather floor mats, the second offers a sunblind set for the rear passenger and rear cargo area windows plus all-weather floor mats and the third provides a cargo area mat, load lip protection plate and all-weather floor mats.

Metallic paint is a $900 option.

The options and extras come on top of standard inclusions such as tri-zone climate control, dusk-sensing headlights, rain-sensing wipers, electric folding and heated wing mirrors, reversing camera, LED headlights with high beam assist, LED taillights, digital cockpit pro (digital instrument panel), and an 8.0-inch infotainment array incorporating native satellite navigation, voice and gesture control, App-Connect, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and wireless phone charging.

It also includes Volkswagen’s IQ.Drive safety and driver assistance technologies with travel assist, adaptive lane guidance, front assist with pedestrian monitoring, lane assist, emergency assist, adaptive cruise control, side assist, rear cross-traffic alert, park assist, driver fatigue detection and front and rear acoustic parking sensors as standard.

“The new Tiguan Allspace Adventure delivers unique appeal to Volkswagen customers by perfectly combining performance with practicality,” said Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles brand director Michal Szaniecki.

“With the largest boot volume ever offered on a Tiguan, among the most power in the segment, plus tough underbody changes, the Allspace Adventure caters to on- and off-road thrill seekers.”

The news comes just two months after Volkswagen announced revised pricing across the Tiguan Allspace range.

Prices increase by between $3100 and $3800 across the seven-variant range, with the entry-grade Tiguan Allspace 110TSI Life now retailing from $44,590 plus on-road costs.

The March announcement also introduced the range-topping Tiguan Allspace R-Line to the range. Available in 162TSI and 147TDI guises, the more purposeful-looking – and performing – duo feature 20-inch Misano alloys, premium LED tail-lights with dynamic indicators and an R-Line body kit comprising bumpers, side sills, rear spoiler and badges on the grille and side spears among their standard kit list.

Inside, R-Line variants include luxuries such as Vienna leather upholstery, a sports multifunction steering wheel (with haptic feedback buttons), progressive steering, stainless steel pedals and a black headliner complete the interior appointment.

The duo is priced from $60,190 and $61,990 plus on-road costs respectively.
