Volkswagen reveals Oz T-Roc SUV pricing

BY CALLUM HUNTER | 14th Jan 2020

VOLKSWAGEN has revealed the local pricing for its new T-Roc SUV ahead of it pre-order period which starts this week, priced from $40,490 plus on-road costs for the 140TSI Sport.

Sitting below the Tiguan in VW’s SUV range, the T-Roc is 252mm shorter end-to-end and has a 100mm lower roofline while boot space is also down at 445 litres (up to 615L in Tiguan).

Just two variants will be offered initially, the aforementioned 140TSI Sport ($40,490 plus ORC) and the X Special Edition priced from $42,990, of which just 200 will be available.

Both variants can be pre-ordered as of Thursday before they lob into Aussie showrooms in April, followed by the lower spec 110TSI in June with VW saying details of this version will be released closer to its release.

Power in the 140TSI Sport and X Special Edition comes courtesy of a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine good for – as the name suggests – 140kW and 320Nm, driving all four wheels using VW’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system via a seven-speed DSG transmission.

Standard equipment on the 140TSI Sport includes a wealth of driver assist and safety features such as Front Assist with City autonomous emergency braking and Pedestrian Monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane assist with adaptive lane guidance, blind spot monitoring with rear traffic assist, traffic jam and emergency assist, proactive occupant protection system, reversing camera, park assist, LED headlights and with light assist and 4Motion Active Control.

Also fitted as standard is a digital cockpit, dual zone climate control air conditioning, Discover Media 8.0-inch navigation and App-Connect, leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles, keyless access, LED interior ambient lighting and power folding door mirrors.

Being one of the high-end variants, the 140TSI Sport also scores R-Line exterior styling, dark tinted rear side and rear windows, 18-inch Sebring alloy wheels, sports suspension and chrome roof rails.

From here, VW are offering a ‘Sound and Style Package’ which adds 19-inch Suzuka alloys, adaptive chassis control and a Beats 300W premium sound system for an extra $2000 or a $3500 ‘Luxury Package’ including a panoramic glass sunroof, Vienna leather upholstery and electrically operated tailgate.

Stepping up to the X Special Edition effectively brings a mix of the two packages as standard (black 19-inch Suzuka alloys, Adaptive Chassis Control, Beats 300W premium sound system and electric tailgate) and well as a few other goodies such as black, anthracite and red sports cloth upholstery and a unique white and red paint job honouring VW’s sponsorship of the Sydney Swans.

The panoramic sunroof is a $1900 extra.

While the new T-Roc won’t arrive in showrooms until April, both variants will be on display at the Volksfest event in Brisbane on February 16 alongside its slightly smaller T-Cross sibling.
