A SWITCH in the centre console of the cockpit unlocks the tank flap. The central locking system is operated from a panel on the driver's door armrest, which also contains electric window switches. The headlight switch and knurled wheel for instrument lighting is located to the right of the steering wheel.

The electric (and heated) exterior mirrors beside the driver's doorhandle are adjusted with the small knob. Heating and ventilation - placed too low for many drivers - is controlled by rotary dials, with buttons underneath the blower for air-con and air recirculation. The turn signals, headlight flasher and main beam switch is located on the left hand stalk. The right stalk controls the front and rear windscreen wipers and the cruise switch (on GLE and GTi).
